Through this training, the programme develops specific professional, scientific, and managerial skills relevant to scientific research, enabling graduates to pursue high-level positions in specialised institutions and companies and to continue their academic training through doctoral studies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This accredited programme provides forestry engineers with comprehensive scientific, technical, and managerial training in the field of forest management. It focuses on advanced modern methods for forest ecosystem management with a view to ensuring forest continuity through sustainable management, enhancing forest biodiversity, and promoting the use of natural resources in accordance with social, cultural, and environmental needs. At the same time, the programme creates the necessary framework for advancing research in the field and applying research findings in professional practice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\"><strong>OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY PROGRAMME<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>General Objective<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The general objective of the Master\u2019s Degree Programme in <strong>Forest Ecosystem Management<\/strong> is to train highly qualified specialists in forestry who are capable of designing, implementing, and evaluating measures for the sustainable management of forest ecosystems in accordance with current requirements concerning biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation, forest management certification, the use of modern technologies, and the responsible utilisation of natural resources.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The programme aims to develop the professional, scientific, and managerial competencies required for sustainable forest management, the conservation and restoration of forest ecosystems, the management of forest genetic resources, the monitoring of risk factors, and the implementation of the principles of the green economy and bioeconomy. The curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge with applied, research, and innovation activities, contributing to the training of specialists capable of addressing the current and future challenges facing the forestry sector at both national and international levels.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Specific Objectives<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li>To develop advanced competencies in the assessment, conservation, and management of forest ecosystem biodiversity, as well as in identifying the measures required to maintain and restore forest habitats of ecological importance.<\/li>\n<li>To develop skills in the use of modern information systems, databases, and digital technologies applied to the monitoring, planning, and management of forest resources.<\/li>\n<li>To deepen knowledge of the biological, genetic, and ecological foundations of forest regeneration, the conservation of forest genetic resources, and the application of modern improvement and selection methods.<\/li>\n<li>To develop competencies in the use of forest biotechnologies and modern techniques for the propagation and conservation of forest reproductive material.<\/li>\n<li>To develop the capacity to carry out measurements, assessments, and site mapping of forest ecosystems and degraded land using modern analysis and monitoring methods and technologies.<\/li>\n<li>To deepen knowledge of the design and establishment of special-purpose forest plantations, including agroforestry and silvopastoral systems, protective forest belts, energy plantations, and other nature-based solutions.<\/li>\n<li>To acquire the principles and practices of ecological and close-to-nature silviculture by promoting interventions that contribute to maintaining ecological balance and increasing the resilience of forest ecosystems.<\/li>\n<li>To develop competencies in forest protection against biotic and abiotic risk factors and in designing strategies for adapting forest ecosystems to the effects of climate change.<\/li>\n<li>To develop the capacity for the assessment and sustainable utilisation of timber and non-timber forest products by applying the principles of the bioeconomy and circular economy.<\/li>\n<li>To develop competencies in the integrated management of forest resources and the ecosystem services provided by forests, including carbon sequestration, soil and water resource protection, recreation, and landscape conservation.<\/li>\n<li>To develop the competencies required for the design, implementation, and evaluation of projects in forest management, ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.<\/li>\n<li>To develop competencies in the implementation and evaluation of forest certification and chain-of-custody systems (FSC, PEFC) by deepening knowledge of the principles, criteria, and indicators used to demonstrate sustainable forest management.<\/li>\n<li>To develop the capacity to monitor and audit forestry activities in accordance with forest certification standards, traceability requirements, and European policies concerning the sustainability of forest resources.<\/li>\n<li>To strengthen scientific research and innovation competencies by involving Master\u2019s students in documentation, critical analysis, experimentation, and the development of modern solutions to complex issues in forest ecosystem management.<\/li>\n<li>To develop the capacity to integrate information from multiple sources and support decision-making processes concerning the sustainable management of forests and forest areas.<\/li>\n<li>To promote professional responsibility, academic ethics, and compliance with national and European legislation in the fields of These 31 credits include the credits corresponding to the courses included in the study contract for the two semesters of the respective academic year.
